We require your school to provide a classroom with tables, chairs and a projector/whiteboard for all S.T.E.M Workshops.
THE PAPER PLANE RACE
FEATURES: ART, ENGINEERING, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE
SKILLS: PROBLEM-SOLVING, PATIENCE, FINE-MOTOR WORK, DETAIL WORK
AGE RANGE: KS2-KS4, AGES 7-14
The Paper Plane Race sees students taught how to fold four different types of paper plane, illustrating how different shapes act in air and to communicate the basic principles of aerodynamics. We explore how the different shapes behave and how slight adjustments can make an improvement to performance. At the end of the workshop, we test each plane in an open space and each child chooses a plane to put forward for the final race. The winner takes home a prize!
Challenging, captivating and creative, this workshop will ignite a passion for engineering in your students.
For this workshop, we require a large open space (sports hall, school field, playground) to launch our paper planes and determine a winner!
